Europol disrupts drug operation trafficking more than a ton of cocaine into Europe
Authorities in Italy, Spain and Albania arrested 28 suspected members of a drug trafficking network tied to the ‘Ndrangheta, Europol said Tuesday.
The group, made up of Italian and Albanian nationals, allegedly smuggled cocaine from South America to Europe and sold it in Rome.
Among those arrested was a Calabrian man suspected of organizing the network in Rome’s San Basilio area. Prosecutors say the group trafficked more than a ton of cocaine and used torture to enforce control, including recording a violent attack to intimidate others.
